MarchThe yellow of the streetlights shone through the blinds leaving crooked lines of the same colour on the walls. They were covered in newspaper articles. The lamp had been knocked off the nightstand, half-broken, somehow still flickering. Dawn would break soon.
   I heard him light another cigarette. I was lying with my ear glued to his chest, still drowsy. Half-awake, in a dream-like state of calm. I listened to his lungs inhale the smoke slowly and his heartbeat increased ever so slightly. How it echoed in the hollow of his body.
    "It's going to rain, don't you think?" He said, his voice caught in his throat. Deep, resonating into my ear. His other hand squeezed my shoulder. It was cold under the sheets. Smoke clung to the air. I thought I heard seagulls outside. 
  The palm trees were swaying in front of the motel. No cars passed by. It was so quiet. I wondered if he liked the taste of my lipstick smudge on his lips. I wondered if he felt his lips by necropoetus

No, I chose to forgo a title, and I am fairly certain that by extension I am wanted by the council as well… but that is neither here nor there. No, we are in no danger here, I promise you. A Fiendish HourYato looked out over the city. He sat down and dangled his legs off the side of the short building. He squinted his blue eyes against the setting sun.
“What’re you doing up here?” someone asked from behind. Yato jumped and whipped around  only to see his regalia, Yukine. He sighed and returned his gaze to the building in front of them. After a moment, Yukine walked up and sat beside his master. “What are you looking for?” Yukine asked when Yato didn’t answer his first question. Yato sighed.
“Not ‘what’. Who.” he replied then jumped off the roof,landing gracefully on the ground. Yukine jumped down after him, and ran to catch up to Yato.
For a while, neither of them spoke. Yukine started to feel uncomfortable in the awkward silence. In front of his, Yato stopped so suddenly, Yukine almost ran into him. Yukine clenched his fists.

     1897
     
    Everything about this night reminded me of the last night I had seen Freddie, then, three years ago.
    Like then, I was one among the guests of an elegant soiree my employer hosted in his equally elegant London mansion.
    Like then, I was being accompanied by the chatty presence of Evangeline who had been clinging to my left arm until she left my side to engage into a gossip filled conversation with her mother and sisters.
    Like then, the cloudy night sky was once in a while enlightened by lightning bolts which accompanied the blustering thunderstorm and which made the present ladies jump in exaggerated fear.

Emotional

PianoShe learned to play her piano
When she was just but three -
Her songs were light, inspiring,
And always full of glee.
She lost a key when she was six,
Another’s she ‘came 8,
But never played them, anyway:
They were a kind of weight.
So she thought not upon them,
And instead, she let them go.
No need to have them take up space
For songs she didn’t know.
Her songs became more beautiful,
As she did, at fifteen,
But there came errors: body changed,
Mind same - she, caught between.
The boyfriend she picked was her first;
To him, she was his four.
And when he left, she was bereft -
3 more keys met the floor.
The songs she played were sad'ning, then,
And lacked their former grace.
The keys she dropped were happy keys -
Her fingers found but space.
In time, she learned to play around
The emptiness now there.
Her songs re-grew so beautiful,
That others weren’t aware:
The spaces that her mel’dy skipped
Still burned within her heart.
